Cardinals were my mother’s favorite bird, mine as well.
Whenever I see one I’m reminded of her, and feel that she’s watching over me.
When I sat down to start working on her estate, I looked out the dining room window and saw a cardinal sitting in the hedge in the backyard. I don’t beleive in an afterlife, but seeing the beautiful red bird was a comfort.
The cardinal is a lovely bird so thank you, Martini. His song is very chipper for someone who is freezing his ass off. Here in AZ our western cardinals are not so red of course but sill cute. Here is a good photo: https://www.arizonahighways.com/classroom/pyrrhuloxia
Cardinals are lovely.
They are, aren't they?
First winter I lived in Chicago, there was a cardinal would perch in the tree right outside my living room window, not three feet away.
I see many more now than I did growing up, of course I've moved a bit north and a bit higher in elevation. They're such a treat to see!
