This wasn't the only derivative Pinocchio made in that decade- Rankin-Bass' "New Adventures of Pinocchio" TV series took even more strange liberties with the original story around the same time.

Somehow I missed this, back in 1965. Maybe I'll watch it real soon now! Thanks, Your Glambassadoriality! Yet again, you've improved my life in some unexpected way!

I was 5 when this movie came out. I think we saw it in the theatre because my parents used to drop us off at the movies on a Saturday so they could have some time to themselves. I remember once sitting on the curb in front of the theatre waiting and waiting. My older siblings complaining "where are they?" and arguing about what to do. The parents finally showed up with apologies and some lame excuse that we did not believe. But hey, at least we saw a movie. There you go Martini, once again triggering my nostalgia. Thanks!

Mining Goldoni and futurist fantasy, why not? It's a modest enough spin-off notion, but this team made a very nice effort and you, Martini, with your sure eye, have culled another Tabtastic anima-gem.
