The Andersons left a remarkable legacy behind them- their programs are still known and loved by people much more than others of the era. They were even imitated in the Hollywood film "Team America: World Police"- which was far more "adult" oriented than what the Andersons did.
And, eventually, Gerry Anderson was able to make live-action TV shows with real actors. But even then, "UFO" and "Space: 1999" weren't really that different from the marionette shows...
Loved the gif, Martini. Though my favorite show was Thunderbirds, I also watched most of the other marionette shows. I also watched UFO and Space: 1999. The Andersons were an influential pair and made the television landscape a much more interesting place. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Because reasons, I see a lot of Anderson material.
His fate was so ironic. He wanted to use his awesome productions with puppets so that he could be paid to make awesome productions with humans. But instead he became The Puppet Guy.
What fun! Intergalactic travel is not for the faint of heart. FanTABulous!
Someone in England still likes Anderson's puppets, as shown in this Children in Need video.

Bring it back! Supermarionation was awesome!
"Thunderbirds are GO!" is tattooed into my brain!
