Your hed gif today is from a 1910 silent movie, “The Unchanging Sea.” The movie is inspired by a Charles Kingsley poem “The Three Fishers.” The story begins when a happy couple’s life is marred by the tragic near-drowning of the husband, a fisherman. Time passes, but the man remembers nothing of his life or family before the accident. In the meantime, the couple’s daughter grows and decides to marry. The wife, now even lonelier than before, returns to the seaside. By happy coincidence, the husband also finds himself seaside. The familiarity of the sea triggers the return of his memory and the couple, now elderly, reunite. We come to understand that while people change with the passage of time, the rhythm of fishing life and the majesty of the sea are eternal.
