This little (and I do mean little) colorful blip is a nudibranch, found by marine biologist Igor Adameyko. He writes:
A Cyerce kikutarobabai nudibranch from Okinawa. This one is very tiny - 3 mm long. I found it bouncing in the waves being torn from the reef by the water power. It was flying like a pink dot among the muddy water with debris.
Apparently he wasn’t expecting too much before he brought the tiny pink creature under his microscope, but was pleasantly surprised he’d found such an interesting critter. It’s a good reminder that there is a world of diverse, amazing and often beautiful life on this planet that we might never stop to notice or consider.
Adameyko’s Instagram feed is filled with terrific captures of the marine creatures that might otherwise go ignored. Check it out by clicking through the source video below.
Oh my goodness, that is amazing. I'd like to come back in a couple hundred thousand years and find out how that creature evolves. Meanwhile someone should make plushies of it and make a bunch of money. Wait a minute, have the Japanese already incorporated this creature into Anime? Thanks, Martini. This world is an amazing place.
Another fun post to start the day. Thanks, Martini. You deliver the best stuff!
