One of the features I love about red pandas is the drama. Take this little fella at the Nishiyama zoo, making the biggest yawn possible. There can be no doubt that he’s tired and you have disturbed his slumber, inconsiderate zoo visitor. Now where is that double-foam panda-milk latte he ordered?

Nishiyama Zoo where this red panda lives is a small, admission-free municipal zoo in Sabae, Japan. Despite its small size, the zoo is notable for hosting one of the largest groups of red pandas in Japan. The zoo’s website currently lists 11 pandas in residence, all adorable. The pandas are decendants of a pair donated by the Beijing Zoo in 1984, and the youngest pandas in residence are the 7th generation of the family. The zoo is also home to a variety of exotic birds and some primates.

I want to go to there.
Aw, what a sweet face. That yawn made me yawn. So many cute animals, so little time. Thanks, Martini for keeping our spirits up.
