Well this looks like fun! These Adélie penguins were filmed at Inexpressible Island in Antarctica as they jumped from water onto ice floes. These little guys have strong flippers that enable them to generate enough power for impressive upward jumps as they leave the water.
The action was filmed by Myeongho Seo. He lists his titles as “Climber, Polar Safety Coordinator, UAV Engineer & Pilot, Photographer, Helicopter Gimbal Camera Operator, Photogrammetry Technician.” That’s an impressive list of skills! I imagine when one lives and works in extreme conditions without many other people around, one has to develop many specialties.

Awesome takeoffs. Landings need work.
I love watching penguins hurl themselves from the water. It is amazing. They are such awkward nerds but also amazing athletes. Evolution doing strange things again. But don't let them sit on your tv because they might explode. Thanks, Martini, for a bright spot in the day.
