The Australian Reptile Park just last week shared some footage of their first koala joey to climb out of mama’s pouch for the season. Oh my, check out the big world, my little dude or dudette! It certainly seems full of wonder about its surroundings, although not quite ready to leave the comfort of his mom’s hugs quite yet, sharing kisses and cuddles as they bond. After all that excitement, no wonder the little sweetie needs a nap.
The park reports that there are four confirmed joeys born this year, with signs that other breeding females are growing pouches and might also be expecting in the coming months. Only one joey has ventured outside of its maternal pouch so far, with the team keeping a careful eye on the development of all the new babies. As for this first baby, its a little too soon to determine gender, so they haven’t chosen a name yet.

Australian Reptile Park: “Out First Koala Joey Has Emerged!” 7/11/25
Australian Reptile Park?!? Have I been misled all my life? I was taught that Koalas were marsupials and now you're telling me they're reptiles? I'm so confused. Just kidding, Martini. It is a great video with such a cutie patootie of a joey. That is a face anyone could love, not just a mother. Thanks, Martini!
This is so cute. I can only smile.
